Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH) and AiForsee Participate in Nexus2050 and Catapult SEA 2024 in Luxembourg
Jakarta, July 1, 2024 –
The Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH) has announced its participation, alongside one of its member companies, AiForsee, in the Nexus2050 event at The Luxexpo, Luxembourg. This participation is part of the Catapult Southeast Asia (SEA) 2024 series, which focuses on fintech innovation and financial inclusion, organized by the Luxembourg House of Fintech (LHoFT) from June 24 to 28, 2024.
Nexus2050 is an international seminar for stakeholders integrating ecological transition and digital technology into government and business programs to achieve net-zero strategies by 2050. This year's event was inaugurated by His Royal Highness Prince Guillaume and Sophia, the world's first robot citizen, and attended by over 5,000 visitors.
AFTECH participated in a panel session titled “Fintech in Southeast Asia: The Best Solution for Building Impact.” The panel highlighted the rapid growth of fintech and the digital economy in Southeast Asia, a region with immense potential for developing impactful technological innovations.
During the panel, alongside representatives from other ASEAN associations, AFTECH’s Executive Director, Aries Setiadi, stated, “In Indonesia, fintech is an integral part of other ecosystems such as e-commerce, online transportation, and small- and medium-sized enterprises. Fintech is holistically integrated into the digital economy ecosystem. Collaboration and innovation are the keys.”
AiForsee, a fintech company specializing in Innovative Credit Scoring, had the opportunity to take part in the Start-Up Stage and pitch to Nexus2050 attendees. AiForsee was selected as one of the 10 fintech companies from Southeast Asia to be featured on this stage.
AFTECH and AiForsee's presence in Luxembourg was also part of the Catapult SEA 2024 series, a fintech development program in Southeast Asia organized by LHoFT and sponsored by the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As part of the Catapult activities, AFTECH held meetings with Tom Theobald, Director of the Development of the Financial Centre, Ministry of Finance Luxembourg, and Louis Muyser, Advisor for the Luxembourg Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Luxembourg. AFTECH and other associations also discussed efforts to enhance their role in fostering fintech innovation for impactful programs with Chris Hollifield, Head of Business Development at Luxembourg for Finance. Additionally, AFTECH provided mentoring to fintech companies participating in the Catapult SEA program.
Meanwhile, AiForsee participated in a series of capacity-building sessions focusing on impact-driven funding strategies, business management techniques, responsible financial services, and personalized mentoring.
Christian Limawan, Head of AiForsee, stated, “Catapult SEA 2024 provided AiForsee with a world-class perspective combined with local insights on how to scale our business while achieving social impact. This program has been an eye-opener on the structural improvements we need to make, not only to benefit our business but also to prepare for future opportunities with interested investors.”
In April 2024, AiForsee, represented by Data Engineer Agustinus Gladyawan Dwi Putra, also participated in the Catapult SEA 2024 bootcamp in Thailand and was selected as one of the top 10 finalists to attend the program in Luxembourg this June. “This program truly allowed us to reflect while learning from other cohort participants, mentors, and expanding AiForsee’s business network,” added Christian.
AiForsee is a fintech company specializing in Innovative Credit Scoring, recommended through the Financial Innovation Digital Sandbox program by the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
Annabelle Albert-Fonteneau, Startup Growth Manager at LHoFT, highlighted Southeast Asia's promising prospects for fintech innovation. “The 10 fintech companies participating in Catapult SEA 2024 have diverse innovations, ranging from financial inclusion for MSMEs like AiForsee to fintech solutions for retirement planning, farmer access, and digital vault services.”
The Catapult SEA 2024 program is in its inaugural year in Southeast Asia and will continue in the coming years. “Luxembourg is looking forward to even more exciting innovations. Next year, we hope to see more Indonesian fintech startups applying to Catapult!” Annabelle concluded.
