Jakarta, May 12, 2026 — The Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH) held its 2026 Annual Members Meeting (Rapat Umum Anggota/RUA) at Soehanna Hall, SCBD, Jakarta, as the organization’s highest forum in accordance with its Articles of Association and Bylaws.

The meeting carried two main agendas: the approval and ratification of AFTECH’s 2025 accountability and financial reports, as well as the approval of the association’s 2026 work program and budget. The forum was attended by 144 AFTECH member companies alongside key regulators and national strategic stakeholders, reflecting AFTECH’s growing role as a trusted partner of the government in advancing Indonesia’s digital financial transformation.

In his opening remarks, AFTECH Chairman Pandu Sjahrir emphasized that Indonesia needs more tech champions capable of driving the country’s digital economy forward. However, he stressed that the ambition to create more Indonesian tech leaders must go hand in hand with strong governance and responsible innovation.

According to Pandu, good governance should not be seen as a barrier to innovation, but rather as the foundation that enables innovation to grow sustainably and create long-term impact.

He also highlighted that Indonesia’s fintech ecosystem is entering a new chapter, marked by tangible achievements. Several major digital companies operating in Indonesia have started to reach profitability after years of building their foundations, signaling that Indonesia’s fintech and digital economy business models are becoming increasingly sustainable at scale.

At the same time, Pandu acknowledged that structural challenges remain. Indonesia’s digital financial ecosystem is still fragmented, while the challenges faced by the industry continue to grow in scale and complexity.

“If we want this industry to move to the next level, all stakeholders including business players must step up, integrate, collaborate, and move faster. We are building an industry that not only grows rapidly, but also grows in a trusted and impactful way for Indonesia’s real economy,” Pandu stated.

Chairwoman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Friderica Widyasari Dewi, also underlined the increasingly important role of the Financial Sector Technology Innovation (ITSK) ecosystem under AFTECH.

She noted that the ecosystem now consists of 208 member companies, 17.17 million users of Financial Service Aggregation Providers (PAJK), 77.32 million Alternative Credit Scoring (PKA) hits, and transactions facilitated by PAJK reaching IDR 2.11 trillion. These figures reflect growing public trust as well as the industry’s ability to serve underserved communities and support MSMEs.

Friderica described AFTECH as a “shared home” for Indonesia’s diverse fintech ecosystem and emphasized three key priorities for the industry: strengthening responsible inclusion, building trust through integrity and governance, and balancing innovation with regulation.

“Regulation is not meant to suppress innovation, but to ensure balance between innovation, business growth, and consumer protection,” she explained.

Support for the fintech industry was also expressed by Indonesia’s Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, who stated that fintech plays an important role in accelerating digital transformation, expanding access to financing, and improving the efficiency of economic transactions.

He emphasized that fintech is expected to become one of the key drivers in achieving Indonesia Emas 2045.

Meanwhile, Vice Minister of Finance Juda Agung stressed that public trust remains the most valuable asset for the fintech industry. He encouraged AFTECH and all industry players to continue strengthening transparency, ethical standards, and consumer protection to ensure that fintech growth remains sustainable, secure, and impactful.

As part of the 2026 Annual Members Meeting, AFTECH also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Hong Kong Web3.0 Standardization Association, reinforcing international collaboration in the development of digital finance and Web3 ecosystems.

The 2026 AFTECH Annual Members Meeting concluded successfully with unanimous approval of all agendas, including the ratification of the 2025 accountability and financial reports, as well as the approval of AFTECH’s 2026 work plan and budget.

All initiatives throughout 2026 will move forward under AFTECH’s guiding theme:

“Strengthening Governance, Maintaining Trust, and Shaping the Future Policy Direction of Indonesia’s Fintech Industry.”
