The Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH) welcomed a delegation from the China-Asia Economic Development Association (CAEDA) and the Global Digital Trade and Transaction Center (GDTTC) on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, at Wisma Danantara Indonesia, Jakarta.

The meeting served as a strategic dialogue to explore potential collaboration between Indonesia and China in digital trade, digital transactions, fintech development, cross-border investment, and the wider digital economy.

During the discussion, AFTECH reaffirmed its role as Indonesia’s first and largest fintech association, representing more than 200 member companies across over 25 fintech business models. AFTECH also highlighted the rapid growth of Indonesia’s digital payment ecosystem, including the strong momentum of QRIS and the expansion of cross-border payment connectivity across Asia.

AFTECH Chairman Pandu Sjahrir noted that China remains one of Indonesia’s important partners, particularly in the development of digital economy and infrastructure. He also emphasized the value of knowledge exchange in several key areas, including cross-border payment interoperability, the evolution of digital lending models, asset tokenization, anti-fraud practices, and consumer protection.

The CAEDA and GDTTC delegation shared their plans to further strengthen engagement in Indonesia, including in digital trade, cross-border payment infrastructure, digital banking, industrial investment, and digital economy platforms. GDTTC also expressed interest in supporting broader industrial cooperation between Indonesia and China through investment facilitation and wider market access.

A key part of the discussion focused on opportunities to strengthen cross-border payment connectivity, particularly through QR-based ecosystems and industry-level collaboration. Both sides also exchanged views on China’s experience in managing digital lending, the development of digital assets and real-world asset tokenization, as well as the potential establishment of a bilateral industrial development fund.

The meeting marked an important first step toward building more concrete collaboration between Indonesia’s fintech ecosystem and China’s digital economy network. AFTECH also invited the CAEDA and GDTTC delegation to participate in the Indonesia Fintech Summit 2026 as part of its ongoing effort to strengthen international dialogue and cooperation in digital finance.

Through this meeting, AFTECH continues to open doors for global collaboration, expand strategic partnerships, and support Indonesia’s fintech industry in becoming more connected to the evolving digital economy landscape.
