Jakarta – The Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH), together with members of the Information Technology-Based Joint Funding Services (LPBBTI) industry, conducted a media visit to Harian Kompas as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen public understanding of the role of digital lending (Pindar) within Indonesia’s fintech ecosystem.
The visit was welcomed by the Editor in Chief and the editorial team of Harian Kompas, providing an opportunity to discuss the development of Indonesia’s fintech industry, particularly the contribution of Pindar in expanding access to financing for individuals and businesses. During the discussion, AFTECH also presented insights and data on the tangible impact of fintech in supporting economic growth and the development of the real sector.
AFTECH emphasized that Pindar plays an important role in bridging the financing gap for communities that remain underserved by traditional financial institutions. This is particularly relevant given that more than 60 million MSMEs in Indonesia continue to face challenges in accessing formal financing due to collateral requirements and limited credit histories.
Since the inception of the industry, Pindar has disbursed more than IDR 1.388 quadrillion in cumulative financing and served over 169 million borrowers across Indonesia. Notably, approximately 38–40% of borrowers are MSMEs that have gained access to funding to support and grow their businesses. In addition, the industry has maintained a repayment rate of over 90%, reflecting the commitment of the vast majority of borrowers to meeting their financial obligations.
Beyond expanding access to financing, Pindar has also contributed to productive economic activities across various sectors, including MSMEs, agriculture, fisheries, small-scale trade, and services—segments that have historically faced difficulties in accessing conventional financing. By supporting these sectors, Pindar helps stimulate regional economic activity, create employment opportunities, and contribute to household income growth.
The media visit also served as a platform for constructive dialogue on the development of the fintech industry and the importance of collaboration among industry players, media organizations, regulators, and other stakeholders in fostering a healthy and sustainable digital financial ecosystem.
Through this engagement, AFTECH reaffirmed its commitment to promoting fintech literacy and public education, while continuing to provide balanced and accurate information regarding the role of Pindar in advancing financial inclusion, supporting MSME productivity, and contributing to Indonesia’s economic development.
Looking ahead, AFTECH and its LPBBTI members will continue to strengthen collaboration with relevant stakeholders to support the growth of an innovative, responsible, and impactful fintech industry. As part of the broader digital financial ecosystem, Pindar is expected to continue serving as a bridge that connects more individuals and businesses to safe, inclusive, and sustainable financial access.
